Saba Imtiaz novel's Bollywood adaptation 'Noor' releases on April 21

KARACHI (web desk) – The shooting of Indian movie ‘Noor’ has been completed which is based on Pakistani writer Saba Imtiaz 2014 novel  Karachi, You re Killing Me!’.

Directed by Sunhil Sippy, the screenplay of the movie is slightly different from the original text of the book in which Sonakshi Sinha takes on the role of the protagonist.

"While the book - a coming-of-age story of a journalist named Ayesha Khan -- is set in Karachi, Noor will be based in Mumbai and has the eponymous Noor Roy Chaudhary, a 20-something journalist, at its centre," informs a source close to the development as reported by Mumbai Mirror.

"It s a beautiful story that follows Noor as she navigates relationships, career, aspirations, life choices, infatuations and body image issues. Every girl will relate to her," adds the source.

Apart from Sonakshi, ‘Noor’ also stars Youtube star Kanan Gill, Purab Kohli and Sunny Leone in a cameo.

The film is slated to release on April 21 in Pakistan.

It is pertinent to mention here that after a span of three decades, a Bollywood film has been made on a Pakistani writer’s story.

Before this, Haseena Moin wrote the script for Raj Kapoor’s ‘Hina’ which featured Zeba Bakhtiar in lead role.
