Akshay Kumar tells why he changed his real name

(Web Desk) – While promoting his upcoming movie “Pad Man” opposite Sonam Kapoor, Akshay Kumar revealed the reason why he had to change his name as he entered the Bollywood.

The Jolly LLB 2 star was previously named Rajiv Bhatia. He had dropped this name in the very initial part of his acting career. Akshay told that his first movie in the Indian film industry was Mahesh Bhatt’s Aaj in 1987. He played a small role in the movie while the lead actor Kumar Gaurav was named ‘Akshay’ in the movie.

He said, “I had a 4.5 second role in the movie and I would only observe Kumar Gaurav and his acting. I don’t know what happened but one day I went to the court and just got my name changed.”

According to Akshay himself, he had no idea why he had his name changed from Rajiv. It might be possible that he was so impressed by Kumar Gaurav’s acting in Akshay’s role that he made the choice.

“I don’t know why I changed my name from Rajiv. I went to the Bandra East court and got my name changed from Rajiv to Akshay. Then I went out to get work, time was in my favour, and I got films after that,” he added.

It took the Khiladi about 30 years to reveal the real reason behind changing his name. Akshay’s decision brought good fortune as he started getting big movies afterwards.

There are many renowned celebrities in the Indian film industry who were not known by their present names in the past. Here are the real names of some Bollywood stars:

Salman Khan s real name was Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan and the actor decided to use the shorter and cooler version

Katrina Kaif was born in England with the name Kate Turquotte. She probably changed her name to relate with the Indian culture

Preity Zinta was named Preetham Singh Zinta when she was born. She choose a more contemporary name as she started her acting career

THANE (Web Desk) – An Indian special court issued non-bailable arrest warrants of renowned Bollywood actor Mamta Kulkarni. The decision was taken in the Rs 2000 crore drug bust probe with its recent development.

Moreover, non-bailable arrest warrants of Vicky Goswami Vijaygiri, an alleged drug lord, were also issued. According to the judgment, investigators have gathered conclusive evidence of involvement of the former Bollywood actor in a drug smuggling case.

Saba Imtiaz novel's Bollywood adaptation 'Noor' releases on April 21

KARACHI (web desk) – The shooting of Indian movie ‘Noor’ has been completed which is based on Pakistani writer Saba Imtiaz 2014 novel  Karachi, You re Killing Me!’.

Directed by Sunhil Sippy, the screenplay of the movie is slightly different from the original text of the book in which Sonakshi Sinha takes on the role of the protagonist.

"While the book - a coming-of-age story of a journalist named Ayesha Khan -- is set in Karachi, Noor will be based in Mumbai and has the eponymous Noor Roy Chaudhary, a 20-something journalist, at its centre," informs a source close to the development as reported by Mumbai Mirror.

"It s a beautiful story that follows Noor as she navigates relationships, career, aspirations, life choices, infatuations and body image issues. Every girl will relate to her," adds the source.

Apart from Sonakshi, ‘Noor’ also stars Youtube star Kanan Gill, Purab Kohli and Sunny Leone in a cameo.

The film is slated to release on April 21 in Pakistan.

It is pertinent to mention here that after a span of three decades, a Bollywood film has been made on a Pakistani writer’s story.

Before this, Haseena Moin wrote the script for Raj Kapoor’s ‘Hina’ which featured Zeba Bakhtiar in lead role.

Domino’s and Starship Technologies will deliver pizza by robot in Europe this summer

(Web desk).

Domino’s has just inked a partnership with Starship Technologies to begin using its “personal delivery devices” this summer in Hamburg, Germany. If all goes well there, Domino’s and Starship intend to bring robot pizza delivery to the Netherlands as well.

Starship’s devices have the look of a self-driving food cart, rather than some science fiction humanoid model. They travel on six wheels at a clip of 4 miles per hour, and can carry just over 40 lbs. of cargo. In Hamburg, the robots will deliver pizzas within a one-mile radius.

Starship is facing significant competition in the burgeoning market for “professional service robotics.” Competitors range from fellow startups like Marble to established players like Boston Dynamics.  The International Federation for Robotics (IFR) forecasts that between 2016 and 2019, logistics businesses will have begun using at least 175,000 robots to provide their services. That compares to UPS’ global fleet of around 100,000 trucks today.

A customer takes a pizza from Starship Technologies’ delivery robot.

Launched by Skype co-founders Ahti Heinla and Janus Friis in 2014, Starship Technologies also recently inked food delivery partnerships with DoorDash and Postmates in the US. But Domino’s has yet to offer pizza delivery by robot here.

Many retailers and restaurants are waiting to see how robot delivery tech shapes up, but also how the rules for using these devices are set in the US market. Virginia, and as of this week Idaho, allow delivery by robot today. Other states and federal US laws are still to be determined..

Domestically, Domino’s has offered other tech-enabled and entertaining ways to buy a pie, including by Tweeting a pizza emoji to @dominos, or requesting delivery from drivers of the Domino’s DXP “ultimate pizza delivery vehicle,” a modified Chevy Spark. In New Zealand, Domino’s has also begun delivery by drones in a partnership with Flirtey.

Indeed, tech has become an international marketing gimmick for Domino’s. But learning what works, and doesn’t, in the next wave of logistics tech could spell serious cost savings, and not just near-term buzz, for any major restaurant chain that delivers. After all, robots may need maintenance, but they don’t call in sick unexpectedly or hop between employers like the people they could displace.

Facebook’s Messenger app adds live location-sharing

(Web desk)

Facebook Inc added a feature to its Messenger app the other day to allow users to share their locations continuously for up to an hour, ramping up competition with tools offered by Apple Inc and Alphabet Inc’s Google Maps.

The company has found that one of the most used phrases on Messenger as people talk to friends and family is “How far away are you?” or some variation, Stan Chudnovsky, head of product for Messenger, said in an interview.“It happens to be what people are saying, what they’re interested in the most,” he said.

Sharing location information is optional, but it can also be live, so once shared, the friend can watch the user’s movement for up to 60 minutes.

Messenger was once part of the core Facebook smartphone app, but the company broke it out as a separate app in 2014 and has since invested in frequent changes to build a service distinct from the massive social network.

Google Maps said last week that it was adding a similar live feature, an attempt to boost engagement on a product of increasing strategic importance to that company.

The close proximity of the announcements tells Facebook “that we’re working on the right things,” Chudnovsky said.

The Messages app on Apple’s iPhone has such a feature, too.

Facebook has been testing its change in Mexico, he said. It was ready as long ago as October, he added, but the company worked on it for five more months to minimize the impact on the battery life of phones.

Facebook sees the feature being used for convenience to coordinate with friends, for safety-related purposes or for other uses, Chudnovsky said. “There are all sorts of products that you can imagine you could build on top of that,” he said.

My past with Kareena is world secret: Shahid Kapoor

(Web desk)

Happily married to Mira, and loving his new real-life role as a father, actor Shahid Kapoor chose to “get back” when asked about his “secret past” with Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Shahid was at the India Today Woman Summit and Awards when an audience member was keen to know about his “secret past.”

“I have a secret past?” Shahid asked, almost puzzled.

“How do you know about it? Were you spying on me? I can’t confess to my secret past,” he added.

On being prodded with Kareena’s name, he said, “How is that a secret, madam? It’s a world secret.”

Later, when Shahid was asked to teach one of his dance steps to the audience, he invited the same lady who wanted him to talk about Kareena.

“The lady who said, Kareena Kapoor, I want her on the stage. See, this is karma, life gets back. What goes around comes around and it’s not just Justin Timberlake who said that… it’s true for life,” he quipped.

Shahid and Kareena had one of the most talked about relationships in tinsel town in recent years, and their split courted equal media attention.

Kareena went on to marry actor-producer Saif Ali Khan and is now a mother to their first child – a son named Taimur. Shahid went for an arranged marriage with Delhi girl Mira, and they have a daughter, Misha.

In the midst of the discussion here, when the host said she won’t go into his past relationships, he said, “So kind of you. Shaadi ke baad yeh sab mat kiya karo (Don’t do all this after marriage).”

He spoke about love and arranged relationships.

Asked if love is a prerequisite for a marriage, Shahid said, “Of course, it is, but in an arranged marriage, it’s about companionship and friendship first, and love follows.”

Amir Khan candid over financial woes like never before

(Web Desk) – Amir Khan has opened up about his bad patch in career, mismanagement of expenses and departure of his father and best friend from his management team after he lost to Alvarez Canelo in May 2016.

In an interview with Boxing News, Khan said that people show their true colour during your bad time. He talked candidly over his best friend Saj Mohammad’s departure from the management, his uncle Taz Khan and father Shah Khan.

He said that the people around him thought that he has lost the big fight of his career, against Alvarez and now it’s over. They wanted a big cheque and left, he complained.

However, Khan said that he is not over yet as he just turned 30 and there still are few good years left in him. He said that he would prove everyone wrong in his next fight.

It should be noted here that the next much-talked-about bout of Khan is against Manny Pacquiao which is a £32 million fight. His time to shine is coming up, Amir Khan asserted. However, on the contrary, there are reports that the bout is not going to happen.

Elaborating on his expenses, he said that small expenses are ignored when one is making millions which is why they pile up and become a hefty sum.

He said that he recently got a server bill for eight grand when he does not need a server and office.

His office is the gym, he said.

The British star further said that he does not even read his emails now.

Accountants used to rip me off, property advisers used to rip me off, he laid bare. I turned to take care of my expenses after Alvarez knockout and wanted to change the entire structure which is why people around me left.

Talking about best friend Saj’s refusal to work for him, he said that he had told him to continue working even after his retirement but he denied and walked off.

Khan said that he lost the fight in May and it had all changed by October and November.

The real reasons behind Madhuri's return

(Web desk)

A choreographer who recently visited Madhuri Dixit's home was shocked to see her husband, Dr Sriram Nene, going through a pile of scripts! As he tells us, "A qualified doctor sitting and reading scripts is a tad strange, isn't it? Maybe he now decides what work she should do. But I wonder whose decision it was to sign her up for an advertisement where she plays the part of a maid?" The latest news is that Nene has applied for jobs at various super-specialty hospitals and is awaiting a favourable reply. So is script-reading just a temporary occupation? Or is he acquainting himself with Bollywood, considering he was not aware of his wife's fame when they were married and hadn't seen any of her movies either!

Longing For Home
A few months ago, when Madhuri announced that she was moving back with bag and baggage to India, fans and well-wishers were ecstatic. Their diva, who stole millions of hearts with her charming smile and electrifying dances, was back on the big screen! When asked about her move, Mads said that the main reason for shifting base was to acquaint her sons Arin and Ryan with their roots and their mother tongue, Marathi. However, some suspect there's more to it than meets the eye! "It was a comfortable life, but definitely not what Madhuri desired," says a source. "While people in India throng to get a glimpse of her, in the US, she was a mere homemaker. Can you imagine being away from all the fame and the spotlight after years of thriving under it?"

People who know her well say that initially Madhuri was happy taking care of her children and living in anonymity. As she once said, "In the US, I do all the things that ordinary women do; like even visiting malls and department stores." However, once Madhuri returned to judge the TV dance show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, her perspective changed. "She realised that she wanted to be here where people recognise and love her. She also liked the fact that she was earning again," says the source.

Google Maps already tracks you; now other people can, too

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) —(web desk) = Google Maps users will soon be able to broadcast their movements to friends and family — the latest test of how much privacy people are willing to sacrifice in an era of rampant sharing.

The location-monitoring feature will begin rolling out Wednesday in an update to the Google Maps mobile app, which is already installed on most of the world’s smartphones. It will also be available on personal computers.

Google believes the new tool will be a more convenient way for people to let someone know where they are without having to text or call them. The Mountain View, California, company has set up the controls so individuals can decide with whom they want to share their whereabouts and for how long — anywhere from a few minutes to indefinitely.

But location sharing in one of the world’s most popular apps could cause friction in marriages and other relationships if one partner demands to know where the other is at all times. Similar tensions could arise if parents insist their teenagers turn on the location-sharing option before they go out.

It could also be turned into a way to stalk someone entangled in an abusive relationship, warned Ruth Glenn, executive director for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. "It has the potential to be another tool in an abuser’s toolkit," she said.

Similar tracking is already available on other apps; Glympse, founded by former Microsoft employees, has offered this function for years. Although it isn’t as wide-ranging, Apple also offers a tracking option called "Find My Friends" on its iPhone, iPad and Watch.

That’s one of the reasons Google isn’t expecting a lot of complaints about adding the option to Maps, especially since everyone can decide when to turn it on and who can monitor them.

"We don’t feel like we are changing the game," said Jen Fitzpatrick, Google’s vice president of maps.

Maps users will be able to activate the location-sharing feature by tapping a button near the search bar and then picking a person from their contact list to text with the information. If the recipient doesn’t have the Google Maps app on their phone, it will text them a link to open the location on the map in a browser.

The settings also allow users to determine how long their movements can be tracked each time a location is shared. If no time limit is selected, Google will periodically send people email reminders that they’re still sharing their location, a step that Glenn said may help anyone who didn’t know an abusive partner was still following them.
