Failed miserably in superhero genre, admits Shahrukh Khan

Failed miserably in superhero genre, admits Shahrukh KhanWEB DESK – The recent speech by Bollywood King Khan at TED Talks, Vancouver is making waves owing for it was not only stuffed with his characteristic humour but in between the one-liners and quips, he brought up something that were not discussed earlier.

While talking about early day, he opened up in the following manner,

"I was born in a refugee colony in the capital city of India, New Delhi. And my father was a freedom fighter. My mother was, well, just a fighter like mothers are. And much like the original homo sapiens, we struggled to survive. When I was in my early 20s, I lost both my parents……………"

Shahrukh also draw an amusing comparison of life with and without technology and the impact that the development brought in our lives,

"…..The internet happened. I was in my late 40s, and I started tweeting like a canary in a birdcage and assuming that, you know, people who peered into my world would admire it for the miracle I believed it to be. But something else awaited me and humanity. You know, we had expected an expansion of ideas and dreams with the enhanced connectivity of the world."

The twenty-minute long speech-a-thon also threw light at some of the aspects of life that people all over the world adore him for. Like he went on to express,

"I m an actor, like I told you, a modern expression of human creativity. The land I come from is the source of inexplicable but very simple spirituality. In its immense generosity, India decided somehow that I, the Muslim son of a broke freedom fighter who accidentally ventured into the business of selling dreams, should become its king of romance, the "Badhshah of Bollywood," the greatest lover the country has ever seen ... with this face. Yeah."

Amidst the laughter and applause, King Khan also admit that he failed miserably in the suit of a superhero.

"You know, I even tried to get into a skintight superhero suit to reinvent myself. I must admit I failed miserably," he added.

Shahrukh Khan also took TED Talk as an opportunity to rubbish the rumours that arose about his third child being the love child of Aryan Khan (his son).

"Four years ago, my lovely wife Gauri and me decided to have a third child. It was claimed on the net that he was the love child of our first child who was 15 years old," Shahrukh revealed.

This Islamabad eatery is brazenly inspired by Pablo Esco

(Web Desk) – Filthy rich mafia bosses do not inspire television shows and movies but their larger than life depiction leads to potential market for their namesake brands as well.

So is the case with an Islamabad eatery which is named Pablo Escobar, a Columbian narco-terrorist whose cartel supplied around 80 percent of the cocaine smuggled into the United States during his peak days.

Pablo s B.Y.O.B (Build Your Own Burger) lived up to its expectation on its opening day as it was flogged so much so that the administration had to apologise over mismanagement as they had not expected such a huge crowd.

This café in F-11 Markaz of the federal capital has its cash registers ringing from day one and apparently will capitalise further, big time, on the Columbian drug lord theme.

The owner, we assume is a huge fan of Netflix’s Narcos like many of us, right?

Escobar had earlier been immortalised in multiple books and other works of art including films and television shows.

Samsung or Apple, who leads the smartphone market?

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Samsung and Apple maintained their leadership in the smartphone market in early 2017 while Chinese-based Huawei s strong growth cemented its number three position, a market tracker said Thursday.

Research firm IDC said overall smartphone shipments grew 4.3 percent in the first quarter, slightly better than its prior forecast, to 347 million units.

"The first quarter smartphone results further prove that the smartphone industry is not dead and that growth still exists," said IDC analyst Ryan Reith.

"There is no question that 2016 was a pivotal year for the industry as growth dipped to low single digits for the first time. However, we believe the industry will show some rebound in 2017, and the strong first quarter results certainly support this argument."

Reith said the 2017 market will feel the impact of the new Samsung Galaxy S8 flagship handset, and a widely expected announcement from Apple for its new iPhone later this year.

According to the survey, Samsung led the market in the first quarter with a 22.8 percent share to 14.9 percent for Apple, with little growth for the top two vendors.

But Huawei s sales jumped 21.7 percent to give it a 9.8 percent share, and fellow Chinese makers Oppo and Vivo, the number four and five vendors, respectively, also boosted their sales.

IDC said the bulk of smartphone growth is likely to come from low-cost handset makers.

"Although we have seen an abundance of premium redesigned flagships that just entered the market, moving forward, we still expect most of the growth to come from more affordable models in a variety of markets," said IDC s Anthony Scarsella.

"Despite all the popularity and media hype around premium devices, we continue to witness a shift in many companies  portfolios geared towards affordable devices with premium-type styling compared to flagship models."

He added that makers "have started to implement a single premium design language that ultimately blurs the lines between the high-end and the low-end, allowing the average consumer to jump on the brand without a hefty upfront investment."

The report is based on preliminary quarterly estimates, with Apple due to report sales figures next week.
